Rotocorum (Spring 2006) was my rotoscope assignment for the Animation Research & Development class. The project parameters were to find live footage of some sort and rotoscope it any way we chose. My footage was a clip of the Decorum ballet choreographed by Roberto Campanella, which I believe I obtained from the Jörgen (?) ballet company (but it's very likely that I'm just making Swedish names up). I rendered out a twenty-second section as a targa sequence (that's over five-hundred image files, bogging down my computer >:0 ...!) and planned to trace each and every one. I wound up tracing certain moments in the dance instead. I chose a different track for the music than what was used in the original ballet, and the result was pleasantly surprising. Traced in Photoshop & edited in After Effects (what else?).
